Enforcement actions
With the OSA in full effect, the UK regulator, Ofcom, is sending requests for information, opening investigations, and fining platforms that are not complying with its duties under the Act.
In 2025, Ofcom published its Illegal Harms Codes of Practice and the Children’s Safety Codes, with which online providers are now legally required to follow to protect their users. Moreover, the UK regulator launched two Enforcement Programmes. One to monitor if services meet their illegal content risk assessment duties and record-keeping duties under the Online Safety Act 2023. And another one to protect children from encountering pornographic content through the use of highly effective age assurance.
Our tracker provides you with an overview of the services under investigation or fined; you can filter by date, type of enforcement action, and the status of the action; also, you can consult Ofcom’s full statement.
