Transparency is a cornerstone of emerging online safety regulations, including the EU Digital Services Act. The DSA makes online intermediaries accountable to their users and broader society through due process and public scrutiny in content moderation and, for the very large online platforms, robust risk management.
Transparency is particularly critical in the fight against online child sexual exploitation and abuse OCSEA, a cause championed by the Tech Coalition in its mission to build an online world where children can play, learn, and explore in safety.
In support of this mission, Tremau has partnered with the Tech Coalition to create a guide that acts as an on-ramp for platforms to use or adapt their application of the TC’s pre-existing “Trust” Transparency Reporting Framework to meet (and go beyond) the 🇪🇺 DSA’s transparency requirements regarding OCSEA.
The guide addresses the DSA's transparency requirements through 3 components:
- How should services design transparent OCSEA policies?
- How should services conduct transparent moderation of OCSEA?
- How should sservices report OCSEA within their DSA transparency reports?
